Turquoise is a stone that has been associated with the gods and goddesses in cultures from ancient Egypt, China and the Americans.   It was one of the most prized stones in ancient Egypt - it's name actually   means "delight".  Hathor (who was the goddess of love, marriage, dance, joy, music and women) was called the lady of Turquoise.  In this culture it was also linked to the sun gods and considered a stone of re-birth.  The hair of the Sun God Ra was said to have been made of Turquoise.

With this majestic gemstone, you get to see Turquoise next to its "host stone".  A host stone is the mineral that you find Turquoise naturally living beside (Black Chert)  Chert is a wonderful gemstone to help provide you with stability and assist in memory recall.  Ancient cultures used this stone to bring Spirit guides to the wearer.  Rich blues peek outside of its host stone and accent the darker host stones colour.  It's really beautiful.

This particular gem is a joy for your senses!  The surface is smooth like silk and is also wavy - okay, I know that sounds odd, but let me explain.  The stone is round when you see it face on (like in the photo) but the shape when you look down from the top? Is like a wave or waffle - you can also catch a hint of the shadow on the top right section of this piece as it's a bit darker than the rest.  So you can really enjoy the smooth surfaces while going up and down with your fingers.
