Vrkshasana
- The Yoga Tree Pose
Over 1 1/2 inches long|
$19.00
Tree Pose or Vrkshasana (Sanskrit), is a balancing
posture in Yoga.
It requires standing on one leg, placing the sole of the
opposite foot to the inner thigh of the supporting leg, bringing the palms to prayer
position in front of the heart, then sweeping the arms overhead, as if the arms were tree
limbs.
This rendition of the "Tree Pose" has the arms
extending into tree branches and the bough of the tree. On the figures' bent leg are
the Sanskrit letters spelling "Vrkshasana".
We think of our roots growing deep into the earth to keep
us grounded and stable. The strength in the core of our bodies keeps us straight and
strong. Our arms reach up to the heavens for spiritual guidance and the crown of our head
opens to continued spiritual growth.
Tree Pose develops concentration, coordination, balance,
poise, strength, and grounded energy.
Whatever path you choose, yoga can bring new vitality
into your life. Whether you are a practicing Yogi or an interested beginner, the symbol of
the tree is an inspiration for all who strive for balance, growth, and centeredness in
their lives.
